Raised Across the Globe

Born in Accra, Ghana, Annette emigrated to the United States with her parents at just two years old. Annette and her family then moved to Ontario, Canada before settling in Dallas, Texas. Raised in three different countries, Annette has extensive knowledge and experience living and working with diverse communities. She has triple citizenship and speaks three languages fluently!

Miss Texas 2024

On June 29, 2024, Annette became the 87th anniversary Miss Texas after competing in the Miss America Organization for two years. She made history as the first immigrant to win the title. During her year of service she traveled nearly 40,000 miles across the state and country advocating for autism awareness and safety in honor of her younger brother, Andrew, who was diagnosed on the autism spectrum. She assisted in fundraising over $800,000 for autism research and programming, and championed critical federal and statewide education. She placed first runner-up at the 2025 Miss America competition and has earned a total of $60,000 in academic scholarships.

Dynamic Keynote Speaker

During her year of service as Miss Texas, Annette gave over 50 keynote speeches to nationally recognized nonprofit organizations and corporations. These include Dallas Mavericks, Autism Speaks, American Heart Association, and Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives. She spoke on a range of topics including advocacy, education, resilience, empowerment, and politics.

Lifetime Scholar

Annette is a first-year law student at Texas Tech University. She has also received a Masters in Business Administration, a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology, and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Child Learning & Development. She graduated from the Lyndon B. Johnson Women's Campaign School at The University of Texas at Austin, as she plans to work in the Texas legislature as a Texas Senator. 

She Received, So She Gave

After earning nearly $60,000 in scholarships from the Miss America Opportunity and Miss Texas Organization, Annette established a scholarship for Miss Texas contestants. The annual S.P.E.A.K.S Scholarship provides academic scholarships to Miss Texas contestants who are dedicated to serving marginalized and underrepresented populations across the state. To date, she has awarded two scholarships totaling nearly $1000 in academic scholarships.
